The short 1/4" bushing (versus the standard 3/8") is designed for easy mounting through a pickguard or control plate without excess threaded shaft poking through — the right choice for a vintage-correct build or restoration rather than a modern reissue with a thicker cavity. The 500K value is the standard choice for humbucker-equipped guitars, preserving more top-end brightness than a 250K pot.
