Description
A genuine CTS "no-load" tone pot, functionally identical to a standard tone control up until you turn it all the way to 10 — at that point, it physically removes itself from the circuit entirely, like a true bypass switch built into the knob itself. The result: with the tone knob rolled fully open, your pickup's raw signal reaches the amp completely unfiltered, none of the slight tonal coloration that even a "fully open" standard tone pot still introduces. The 500K value is the standard choice for humbucker-equipped guitars.
How it works: from positions 1 through 9, it behaves exactly like a normal tone control. At position 10, the pot disconnects from the tone capacitor circuit, giving you the pickup's full, uncolored output — more perceived volume, highs, and twang than a standard tone pot delivers even at max.
Benefits:
- Delivers your pickup's true, unfiltered tone at full tone-knob setting
- Behaves as a completely normal tone control everywhere below 10
- A favorite mod for players chasing maximum clarity and output at the flick of a knob
Features:
- 500K ohm resistance, audio taper
- Split, knurled shaft (fine spline, ~20 teeth)
- Distinctive dimpled/dished housing back
- Includes mounting hardware
Note: unlike Fender's own no-load pots, this CTS version doesn't have a detent "click" at the full-10 position — it works identically otherwise, just without the tactile feedback.
